Murder in Manhattan

This design project is an immersive invitation suite for a murder mystery dinner party held at The Met, themed around the myth of Medusa. Drawing from classical motifs and artworks housed in the museum, the invitation experience blends narrative, symbolism, and tactile design. Donors receive a custom box inspired by Roman sarcophagi, adorned with hand-illustrated Medusa motifs. Inside, a letter opener modeled after Perseus’ sword—referencing the famed statue at The Met—is used to slit open an envelope bearing Medusa’s head, symbolically reenacting her beheading. The set also includes a personalized name tag and, as a final touch, a keepsake pocket mirror featuring custom illustrations—an homage to the mirrored shield Perseus used to defeat Medusa.
